Bird Hugs is a lovely story about Bernard the bird, who has VERY long wings. At first it wasn’t an issue but when all the other birds begin to fly, Bernard feels very left out. He feels sorry for himself for quite some time until a day comes where he can put his VERY long wings to good use.
Learning to cope with a disability is a great message to send to children, both for kids who actually have the disability and for those who don’t have disabilities it’s a great idea learning how to practice and show empathy.
Kids will like Bird Hugs because of the struggles Bernard has and the ways he tries to make use of his VERY long wings. Adults will like this story for its message of acceptance and looking outside the box for solutions.
