Eraser
Author: Anna Kang
Illustrator: Christopher Weyant
Age: 3-7 years
Eraser is a story about an eraser who gets tired of not being recognized for her worth. Pencil is the flashy, creative type and mocks Eraser’s artistic efforts. When the group has to get together to create a science project for school, Pencil shuns Eraser’s contribution and makes fun of her to the other tools.
Eraser runs away but eventually figures out how much she contributes to the group. Pencil finds out how much Eraser makes her look good and realizes Eraser is quite important.
I’ll be honest, this tale wasn’t my favorite. This story is pretty simple. It is an unusual take but there isn’t a lot to it. That being said, it’s a cute story about how everyone has a role and how they are valuable to the team.
Kids will like this story because of the adorable graphics. Adults will like this story because of the message that teamwork is only possible because everyone contributes.
