Never Let a Unicorn Scribble! is a fantastic story about a little girl who wants to teach her new unicorn how to scribble (even though she has heard you shouldn’t let unicorns scribble).
At first the girl ponders why she shouldn’t allow her unicorn to scribble, then she decides to go ahead and let her unicorn use just one crayon and see what happens.
The graphics in general are very minimalist but they definitely do the job! I like how when she mentions a color, such as bright pink or teal, the text is that color. Things like that really are thoughtful in this type of book.
I also really like the overall message of the book (no, I don’t mean the message to flout authority). “All great art starts with a scribble” is a wonderful sentiment to convey to children.
Kids will like this story due to the silly antics of the unicorn and the thoughtfulness of the girl as she tries to determine how best to help her unicorn. Adults will like this book because of its moral that everyone starts somewhere.
